35 yrs young female was suffering from pain in back and lower limbs since 5 years. She took multiple treatments from multiple people including homeopathy but was not recovered. When she approached me with severe pain, after thorough examination and investigations, I had advised her surgery . But like a common scenario, she didn’t turn up for next three months. She again approached me with unbearable pain. she was not able to stand & walk even few steps. When I had asked her the reason for not coming ; she replied me that she was in fear of spine surgery and paralysis , nerve root injury after it.
she had further replied that as pain was unbearable, she accepted to be bedridden with either nerve root injury or paralysis but not in pain. It was a case of Grade 2 Lytic Listhesis L5-S1.
Got surprised on listening her reply. I had counselled her and performed the surgery. Did reduction with decompression with instrumentation with Cage insertion ( L5-S1 TLIF )
It was my responsibility to give her the best result to uproot her fear and misconception. Feels better when patient experience same gratitude towards your work like the full job satisfaction.

In our society spine surgery is having its own fear world. Presenting such case. 17 Yrs old boy came to me on wheel chair. He was not able to stand and walk. He is a daily labourer & lifted some weight. When i examined him, he has lost his power from both the lower limbs; specially knee & Ankle.
I offered him a surgery and he cried out in the worry of his future. There were so many questions in front of his poor family. I supported him & counselled him and proceeded with the surgery.
I did wide decompression with proper foraminotomies of nerve roots
Now it’s one month , that boy is standing on his feet & walking independently without any support.. feels blessed to see that boy & his family very happy & relaxed.
I think pure blessings are much much more bigger than anything in this world.
